"The date was March 29th in #Tokyo. March 28th back here at home. We had finally traveled on our dream trip to #Japan a few days earlier. Two other couples who are close friends of ours came as well and were aware of my plan. They knew it was going to happen they just didn't know when. To be completely honest, neither did I.
It just so happens that the #cherryblossom season was beginning around the city. Our group traveled to #ShinjukuGyoenNationalGarden that Tuesday. After walking through the traditional #Japanesegardens, the park opened up into a large field that was surrounded by nearly fully bloomed cherry blossom trees. I asked Lexi to pick one out and we would have our picture made by it. She scanned the area before picking the perfect tree... on the other side of the field.
When we walked up to it I quickly noticed that our friends hadn't made it over that far yet and if I popped the question at that moment they would miss the whole thing. We had our picture made and Lexi begins to stroll off. Trying to come up with some desperate attempt to pull her back that way I asked if we could take another picture with that same tree. I had forgotten to take my sunglasses off in the first one.
Not very impressed with my request, she walks back over to take yet another picture. This time though, the camera was in the hands of one of our friends and everyone had gathered around. When I fished the ring out of my pocket and knelt down on one knee every person by the tree quickly retreated away; allowing us to capture the perfect moment."
