FWIW, I found out about this exploit a few weeks ago around CCC, talking to a cryptographer who pointed out to me that Zcash's claims that a trusted setup backdoor couldn't break privacy weren't actually based on a math proof, just conjuncture.

Very interesting exploit: turns out you *can* break the privacy of a zk-SNARK system by backdooring the trusted setup.
Zcash is supposedly not vulnerable due to how the MPC worked, but there isn't yet a proper proof, and little peer review. Bleeding edge crypto can be dangerous! twitter.com/copumpkin/stat…

@AshaRangappa_ if MLK were alive today, his foreign contacts (e.g., in accepting Nobel prize 1964) would almost certainly fall within the “foreign affairs” bucket of 702 FII and could be swept up and his private communications warrantlessly searched by FBI.

find it hard to believe that coinbase have never batched transactions, if its true it seems like the equivalent of sending every letter by its own post man and postal van and then complaining why the roads are so busy
