The journalists and students who remain trapped inside report that the gunfire has not stopped. It's now nearly 2 am in Nicaragua and government forces have been firing at this university, and the church inside it, for more than 12 hours.

Dozens of Nicaraguan students, along with priests, doctors, and journalists, are trapped right now inside the National Auntonomous Univiersity of Nicaragua with paramilitaries shooting outside. Ambulances not allowed in and there are injuries.

Confirming there was gunfire near my house. My house was not targeted and I am ok. I am very concerned at reports of violence this weekend. I condemn the violence and my prayers are with all the victims and their families.
