A regular reminder that every single man we traded in for has resulted in the rise of at least one far more competent and effective woman.

a new study about online harassment has found women receive an abusive tweet every 30 seconds, and that black women are 84% more likely than white women to receive abusive tweets.

The core thing, to me, is that we should ask “WHY do things work this way? What are the results? Who’s benefitting, and who’s not? Could we make changes so that more people benefit?” It’s structural work. And it is possible; 100 years ago, unions weren’t a thing. Now they are.

Working the crazy hours is entirely a construct of male hierarchies. Men value face time for advancement. We could pay people differently. We could shorten hours (experiments have been VERY successful) with literally no problem and in fact with an uptick in productivity.

I think Lean In felt like a lifeline to women who felt like “why is nothing I’m doing working?” It was a guide, and it got women like Sandberg and Pelosi where they are. But remember: Their power is derivative of men’s. It’s new and bold to have female power that stands alone.

And lastly I’ll end for now with the friendly reminder that men should be happy that women are asking for equality and not revenge ☺️🤗💃🏻

Sure, reversing 6,000 years of gaslighting and subjugation will take a minute ☺️ But to use architecture as a metaphor: Either we keep repairing the structurally unsound house or we start building the better one.

That’s totally fair — we all get to choose what partnership means to us. What I want is the destruction of (traditional male notions of) power dynamics in relationships, where one party has to be subjugated to another’s will or time or ambition.

Honestly my ONLY worry is that women have come so far in the past three years and something will happen to make us forget that and we’ll lose our nerve.

I’m not against partnership! I am just against disrespectful partnership.

More in line with my style and values, it would be a show where I (and other women) would advise women where and how they could be negotiating better terms in their lives. Plus pep talks, which are my core competency. ☺️

Most of all I want to emphasize that this process does not have to be violent, emotionally or professionally. It can be beautiful and powerful. It is an act of creation to choose the terms of the world you want to live in. Like all acts of creation it’s HARD, but: Beautiful.
