Yes and no. Parents would rather do it themselves through their social network first. Then they approach a shadchan. Doing it yourself is cheaper. Don't have to pay the shadchan

Older Jews find shidduchim "for themselves" through a shadchan rather than just relying on parents. Check it out.

I agree. Both extremes are extremes. The truth is probably in the middle. And I'm really trying not to think about having to find shidduchim for my children
