Fantastic to hear @jeremycorbyn excoriate the 'failed free for all' in our banking system that led to the financial crisis.
The financiers who have taken control of this country are living on borrowed time. pic.twitter.com/ZXtKcBaOe9

I’m really glad that @jessphillips is such a fan of repeating votes. It might cushion the blow when members in Birmingham Yardley deselect her. twitter.com/jessphillips/s…

I totally agree. Recent study showed that those most impacted by austerity are most likely to have voted leave. This pattern will only be reinforced in a 2nd ref. Lab should be working to protect these people, not telling them they were wrong the first time.

This by @AdamRamsay is utterly excoriating on the mandarin institutions of British undemocracy designed to divert and subdue popular engagement and political change. pic.twitter.com/jS6emjOcpo

“That’s why austerity keeps being implemented, even though it doesn’t work. It’s in the interest of the most powerful group of people in the economy - the financial sector.
This isn’t economics; it’s the exercise of pure political power.” #lab18 @j_montgomerie twitter.com/PEF_online/sta…

Shocked at people responding to this saying that multiple referenda on the same issue = democracy.
Remember all those people so convinced elites would ignore them they brought pens into the voting booth? Next time they might not bother voting and take to the streets instead. twitter.com/graceblakeley/…

.@j_montgomerie: “I was shouted down before the financial crisis for worrying about our dependence on household debt. The point isn’t that I was right - the point is that the people in charge are very myopic.” #lab18 pic.twitter.com/eveGDLEnPn

If the people in power keep rerunning the vote until they get the result that they want, it will decimate people’s already weak trust in Britain’s governing institutions. A second leave/remain referendum reeks of the establishment hunkering down to defend its interests.

There is no reason why leave would be any less successful at mobilising the anger with elites in this referendum than they were in the last one. In fact, after a decade of wage stagnation and austerity, it would be much easier.

We’ve already had a vote. Many leavers went into the ref with the suspicion that the result wouldn’t be respected because the British elites who’d spent the last 30 years treating them with contempt would stop at nothing to get their way. They’ve just been vindicated.

The Tory party is split on the issue. The members of almost every other governing institution and private institution are intensely pro-remain.
