Growing at all cost model requires you to overwhelmingly capture and define the market you’re in, otherwise investments are never realized. I can’t see this happening for Pure.

Going to disagree. Block-based Flasharrays didn’t provide any new services, they provided existing services faster, and Pure didn’t invent or even produce flash. They just packaged and delivered it first. NAS was arguably a new service not addressed at the time.

Growth at all costs (the Stanford model) can work when you can grab a commanding market share, and you’re selling a service. No HW company that I know has succeeded this way...maybe I am forgetting someone?
