Alternative to e-voting is e-counting. Used in parts of Scotland, you vote in traditional way and all ballot papers are scanned with full box-by-box breakdown as well as full transfer data, even if they don't come into play. All benefits for both systems, even allows for tally!

Another reason why we could use an Electoral Commission (and, dare I say it, e-voting)... you could get reliable and malleable data about turnout in individual stations at regular intervals, and (God forbid!) even official box-by-box tallies.

Just out from the cinema. There’s the story we know and then there’s the Katie Taylor story we don’t. tells both beautifully, with sensitivity and *sensational* access. Most definitely worth heading out to see. 👌🏻👌🏻

An FF spokesperson has formally rejected Peter Casey's claim he may join the party, supporting TDs Niall Collins and Timmy Dooley: "Mr Casey made clear during the campaign he has zero allegiance to FF; we will not be facilitating any personal crusade of his."

Also: Casey got one-in-six FG votes, nearly one-in-three FF votes, one-in-four SF votes, one-in-four Ind votes... and even (though smaller sample) one-in-ten Labour votes.

RTÉ’s exit poll is now out in full: Of interest: Casey was more popular among lower-income voters - suggesting more traction for ‘wasteful public spending’ angle than welfare dependency (1/2)
