While modernizing consumer protections is laudable, I urge the @EU_Commission & member states to avoid approving provisions that disproportionately impact micro, small & medium-sized enterprises, which would increase costs to doing business and decrease consumer choice in Europe.

After speaking with many stakeholders both in and outside of the EU, we remain concerned that the proposal to require an EU responsible person for compliance responsibilities and/or market surveillance authority contact will ultimately restrict foreign trade by SMEs.
