In Paper Love: Searching for the Girl My Grandfather Left Behind archives supplement fragments found (letters, photos) & in them I found an essential clue: someone else had come looking for the woman I was searching for (they also gave me insight into the period itself.)

thanks for recommending it! Paper Love () relies on archives in several countries (and began with a Slate series looking at the last unopened Holocaust archives, the International Tracing Service (ITS)). Happy to send a book along.
