It takes courage and vulnerability to share such a powerful story. Thank you for speaking out. It is too important for us not to talk about our mental health. Please seek support if you need to and don’t struggle on alone.

Note these are all from the last few weeks alone. An older one: Here's the last UN Commission of Inquiry on Gaza (2015) - which the UK supported - calling Israel's record on accountability "lamentable". Won't the UK take their word for it?

And here's chief again, a few hours before today's vote, warning that "the deficit in accountability for alleged extrajudicial killings and other violations ... undermines confidence in Israeli justice."

(Explanation of thread above) Here are six UN Independent human rights experts expressing concern that "some Israeli officials have suggested the purpose of the investigation is to avoid scrutiny from the international community and the ICC"

This statement, like the statement around the accountability vote, is utterly disingenuous. The *knows* that Israel has an abysmal record on accountability and has no reason to believe this time will be different. Five quotes to illustrate:

UK Govt allegations don’t stand up. UN Inquiry remit is to investigate “all violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law “ and calls on Israel and “and all relevant parties” to cooperate fully with inquiry. Details here

No surprise that Hamas is exploiting events in Gaza but thousands do not put themselves in harm’s way in front of heavily armed soldiers because they are told to. They do so because they have endured 70 yrs of dispossession, 51 yrs of occupation& 11 yrs of suffocating blockade
