With UK short of guns, barbed wire, & mines, some British beaches are being fortified with sawn logs, tar barrels, & in 1 seaside town, old iron bedsteads.

Japan has ordered British colonial government in south-east Asia to close the "Burma road"- which supplies Chinese Nationalists with precious weapons to fight Japanese invaders.

Soviet government also ordering 25% pay cut punishment for 20 minutes lateness to work, imprisonment for quitting a job- to increase industrial production & "protect against capitalist aggression".

New law announced in USSR: Soviet citizens must now work 7 days a week, at least 8 hours a day. State newspaper Pravda announces: "In capitalist countries, workers labour 12+ hours a day!"
