Hehe. That’s harder to pulll off now. Now there’s a price list developed by the Gov’t. They have estimates for all imports and won’t open LC if number quoted is lower or higher. Unfortunately now, it’s also harder to get deep discounts from seller as Gov’t won’t believe it. Lol

Yes sir. Now, people get all their relatives who come home on vacation open these accounts and a sole proprietorship. Black market funds are then deposited there and an LC is opened with no delays. Car importers are said to be wholly dependent on this scheme among others

Diaspora with foreign passports can open accounts in foreign currency to a limit of $50,000. This was established by a breakthrough diaspora law that came out many years back. Unfortunately, the law has stagnated, even backpedaled in some cases. Rights given were taken back

...and oh yeah, when you take money back out of the diaspora account, you lose whatever premium the parallel market offered at that time. So in the end, Diaspora accounts are used for something else other than the original purpose

I absolutely agree! It's very difficult to formally send remittances. Also, Diaspora accounts don't bear interest now & its expensive to transfer money back out. These accounts are mostly used for opening LC's given the massive shortage of forex now. Otherwise, not attractive.
