Thanks I enjoyed writing about that book as I had to think really hard about my reaction to it - which must be the sign of a really good book and one that will last.

I haven't read that. Sounds like I should. Who is it by? I was thinking of The Virgin Suicides by Jeffery Eugenides (wonderful).

This was one of my Christmas reads. Fascinating for me as teach viewpoint at Ox Univ V rare to find novel written totally in first person plural. Only one other I know. This is bold and moving

Happy to speak about my Dead Babies and Seaside Towns on 27th April. Still receiving so many e-mails and letters responding to that book. Every time I speak someone comes afterwards and says, 'I haven't felt about to say this before but ....'

I was amazed by this too. I also absolutely loved the cover. 'Time will Darken it' by Maxwell is also a wonderful book - and a great title, I find.

Yes - libraries save single mothers home alone & the lonely and those unable to afford books; the retired, school children & teens & all of us looking for an escape from the intense pitch/pressure/fog of daily life
