That's not how expertise works. Even GCSE maths students don't get marks for incorrect working. And it ignores the fundamental point: Their instead predicting, accurately, no recession and no rise in unemployment would have presented a radically different prospectus to voters.

The prediction was of, and I quote: "a recession, a spike in inflation, & a rise in unemployment". The only one of those three outcomes—all widely repeated by Remainers—that has happened was the rise in inflation: an inevitable result of £ devaluation that even Leavers expected.

Reality seems to have been smashing many so-called "experts" around the head freely for the past two years. The mark of actual experts is that they respond to that by revising their models of reality. I, for one, am looking forward to people updating their opinions accordingly.

Michael Keaton is superb. I'm sure he's a lovely man in real life, but I have always found him unlikeable on screen, even when we're supposed to like him. He completely owns the protagonist. Sadly, the nature of the true story behind the plot means Laura Dern gets F-all to do.

It's rare these days that, rather than falling apart then, a film comes together in its third act; but *The Founder* does exactly that. It starts out like Basil Exposition and his Cliché Gnomes were running the show, but then turns into something subtle and rich and poignant.

"Experts" have "wisdom". "Ordinary people" are ordinary. If we're going to use empirical performance in, say, economic prediction to measure expertise, Remain's wonks have done poorly so far. Ordinary people seem to be doing just fine.

I've no doubt that, in this case, the missionary was acting illegally and recklessly and that, as ever, Twitter has the facts wrong. Rather than the event itself, I was commenting on Twitter's reaction to it. Which consisted mostly of justifying murder with whataboutery.
