The UK remains the first choice for Romanians wishing to study abroad, and latest figures for the 2016/2017 academic year show that there were 8,340 Romanians studying in the UK, making Romania the 8th highest ‘sending country’ in the EU. 1/2

Trade between the UK and Romania has been growing year-on-year and currently stands at around 4 billion Euros annually. In 2017 it grew by 4.9% and there was an increase of around 8% of recorded value of UK exports to Romania when compared to 2016.

The UK wants a deep and special partnership with Romania as we leave the European Union. A partnership that will cover trade, security, law enforcement and criminal justice cooperation. These are the areas where our close collaboration is in our mutual interest.
