No, I'm not. 2 separate things. You can condemn the guy with the knife at your throat, but also recognize that if your life is at stake then you should give up the $20 and it's unreasonable to say you won't if you really believe your life is in danger.

The difference is that Trump's new policy has made things worse, but if your answer is having any separations or using detention facilities is evil, then we've been committing evil for years and only solution is no immigration laws. Most would disagree with that.

At no point have I said you shouldn't call out "evil" though I disagree that a separation policy is in itself evil... doing it as a deterrent is a different question.

Except that's not what we've been doing for years! Don't you see the problem here when you're outraged but don't know any facts? We've had for years: unaccompanied minors held at those facilities (thus the 2014 influx images), parents charged w improper entry separated etc.

You can't apply for asylum at an embassy. Different than refugee process.

I am asking you a simple question. Where with the parents? The parents also need to be detained during process? So you want them detained together? That is currently against the law. P.s. most of the kids you see "in cages" are unaccompanied minors that came without parents.

Ok need to stop engaging with people arguing in bad faith and that haven't even done basic research. It's just a waste of time and they aren't interested in the truth.

*sigh* Adults who choose to deport are not separated. The whole topic is what to do with adults/kids that are going through process to determine if deportation or asylum are warranted. None of these detentions are long term. They aren't imprisoned.

Ok so you don't support putting kids in detention facilities at all? Same facilities we have used for decades (which are now admittedly overcrowded). What is your proposal on what to do with them during processing?

The bill that's coming out this week, which they've been working with Dems on. Essentially trades DACA path to citizenship for border $, with this fix thrown in.

Whether a certain view or action is moral is often subjective.

Yes, you should be, but that's subjective and probably not based on being outraged on Twitter.

I realize that pretending to be morally superior and scolding people who disagree with you might get a lot of likes and RTs, but it doesn't actually impress anyone who cares about the truth or actual solutions.

No. People turning themselves in at ports of entry are not being charged. Only people who first cross the border illegally. Don't know how to make this clearer.

Except Congressional GOP didn't take a hostage, the Trump admin did. They are trying to solve the problem. Their counterparts are refusing to join in the solution. If they were as outraged about it as they claim, that would be a given.
