Repyt was an ancient Egyptian goddess.[1], [2] She was normally portrayed as a lioness goddess of Egypt.[3]
In ancient times there was a town which was called Hwt-Repyt and renamed Athribis by the Greeks when it began to grow in importance. The site was excavated by Petrie in 1900. Now called Wannina, the site lies on the west bank of the Nile about 10km south-west of Sohag.[4]
