    I think I am with you. I worry that they send the message that maths is about speed and accurate calculation more than creativity and thinking.

    It turned me off reading. What changed that was a teacher who shared his passion for the writing of Stephen Donaldson and The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. Real fiction in real books.

    An historic artifact. It just fed my competitive nature. Not interested in the reading, just knocking off the levels

    Ditto. My teaching load is what inspires me and brings the most joy to my day. This is why we do what we do. And working and learning with an awesome group of teachers is pretty great too.

    I’ve now met ALL of my classes and LOVE THEM! Being in the classroom teaching is the best part of my day at school. 😍

    Beautifully stated. The future might be difficult to predict and the one constant is likely to be ongoing rapid change and yet if we focus on robust competencies like these, our students will be ready to thrive.

    Adaptability, the ability to hold & interpret multiple perspectives, ethical decision making, empathy & robust questioning are some of the skills humans will need in this world. Great teachers foster these skills. Wishing everyone a wondrous school year.
