LSE Careers - open all summer

LSE Careers is open all summer and we’re here to help whether you know what you want to do or not!

You can get your CV checked before you head home, have a one-to-one appointment (we’re open late on Thursdays during Summer Term), use the space and facilities in the Resource Centre, check out the information stand outside SAW every Tuesday during Summer Term, and come along to careers seminars and events once exams are over.

Undergraduate students

Study areas and computer facilities will be available at the following locations and at the following times on production of your LSE ID Card:

Shaw Library, 4th Floor Restaurant, Teaching Rooms - 08:00 to 21:00
NAB open spaces - 08:00 to 21:00
32LIF open spaces and teaching and seminar rooms - 08:00 to 21:00
Saw Swee Hock - 08:00 to 21:00

Staff and postgraduate students

Staff and postgraduates will be able to gain entry to LSE buildings between 08:00 - 21:00 on production/use of your LSE ID Card.

Emergencies will be dealt with by a team of Security staff on duty at the Old Building reception desk in Houghton Street. They can also be contacted in an emergency on 0207 955 6555.

Halls of Residences are open throughout with staff cover as normal over the closure period.

Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday 12 noon to 6pm

lse.ac.uk Show and Tell

This spring, we’re launching a fresh new look for lse.ac.uk. If you’re interested in getting a sneak preview of what the new website is going to be like, the Web Improvement Programme (WIP) team is running a 'show and tell' exhibition in the atrium/reception area of the New Academic Building on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 May.

The exhibition will feature the new page designs, previews of some of the new features available, and reveal the latest ideas for the School’s new homepage. Members of the WIP team will be on-hand between 12-3pm on both days to answer any questions you may have.

Free Cycle Confident lessons

All staff and students are invited to enrol on a free one-to-one cycle lesson with a qualified instructor. They will be running at two different locations, with daytime and evening sessions available in April and June at both locations:

Archbishop’s Park, Lambeth Palace Road, SE1

(best located for campus, halls south of the river, and halls west of campus - Bankside House, Butler’s Wharf, Grosvenor House, High Holborn, Lilian Penson, Northumberland House, Nutford House, Sidney Webb, Westminster Bridge)

Barnard Park, Charlotte Terrace, N1 0JQ

(best located for halls north of the river - Carr Saunders, College Hall, Connaught Hall, Grosvenor House, High Holborn, International Hall, King’s Cross, Lilian Knowles, Passfield, Rosebery)

Free bicycle servicing at LSE

Get your bike serviced for free at LSE on Tuesday 7 June on the Library Plaza from 10am to 2pm.

The LSE security team will also be on hand to security mark your bike to protect it against theft.

LSE PUG Meetup: Data Mining with Python

The next LSE PUG meet up will take place on Wednesday 25 May between 6-8pm in 32L.LG.03. All welcome, light refreshments served. The session will feature demos on how to use Python for data mining. For more info, please see the LSE IT News Blog.

EU Referendum - Register to vote by 7 June

Remember if you have moved since you last voted or will change address by 23 June you should register again.

Unsure if you’ll be at your home or term-time address?

You can register at both, but can only vote once in the referendum. Register at gov.uk/register-to-vote by 7 June. Remember, it is an offence to vote twice.

On holiday, unsure where you will be or can’t get to your polling station on 23 June?

Once registered, apply for a postal vote by 5pm on 8 June. Or apply for a proxy vote by 5pm on 15 June.
