According to the XMedia Recode site Windows XP and Vista are no longer supported since version 3.2.8.0: http://www.xmedia-recode.de/en/version.html So you have to use version 3.2.7.1 or older for these OSes.

Sadly Sebastian never answer to someone who ask him anything. Maybe Sebastian can only write code?

Hi Sebastian, Thanks for your program. My laptop has Vista SP2, X64. I just tried using 3.2.8.0 and I am getting this Error "The Procedure entry point SetThreadErrorMode could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll". XMedia Recode 3.2.7.1 works just fine for me. Q1: Does this mean 3.2.8.0 will not work with Vista neither? Also, there is a problem with MKV files generated by XMedia Recode, all versions. When I try to play it on my Stand-alone TV Media Player (Netgear EVA9100) when I try to forward the video ... it kicks back to the beginning of the movie. But I can fix it by re-processing it using MKVToolnix program ... it fixes the problem. Q2: Sebastian, could you fix this problem, if all possible? Thanks!:)

As it is not mentioned in the changelog, it's worth noting that 3.2.8.0 has dropped support for Windows XP, therefore 3.2.7.1 is the last version to support Windows XP.

Still new XMR make FLV to MPEG4 Video (H264) conversion videos almost double sizes compared to XMR 3.2.3.6. IT SEEMS THAT HOPE FOR FIX IS GONE :( It must be something to do with ffmpeg.dll? If, I hope XMR developer could investigate this a little bit and maybe do not update that dll slavishly unless there is a real need to update it. And yes, Topfield .rec DVB subs are still broken since 3.1.8.8. Why oh why developer do not fix this? I am reported working version (3.1.8.8) so why don't you check what you have changed on that area? It could not care less? It seems so :( Quite tired to report this same thing because developer do not respond anything anywhere. Well, it is free.

Hi gonwk I could try that but really why bother when 3.2.3.6 works just well? But thank you gonwk, I could try because of interest :) And then go back 3.2.3.6. It seems that developer do not care much reported bugs, so I do not hold my breath while waiting fixed XMR. I just wonder if anyone received a reply from developer? Anyone?

Hi Sebastian, Excellent Tool & Thanks for the Regular updates. @ yamaneko, I wonder if you use FLVExtract and change your FLV to MP4, and then use XMR, u might get a different/better result.

I just recently started using this GUI frontend for ffmpeg. It is great in all respects. I now can finally delete my MpegStreamClip. This s/w exceeds my expectations (and that's saying something) Very good tool, but I only use it for direct stream copy....

Still make MPEG4 Video (H264) videos almost double sizes compared to 3.2.3.6. (XMR 3236 result: 196 MB, XMR 3251 result: 355 MB, profile Google/mp4) And btw, Topfield .rec DVB subtitle rendering are still broken. Last version that handle Yle (Finnish TV) DVB subtitles correctly is 3.1.8.8. Unfortunately developer does not fix this (maybe he/she/? cannot). I could send link to test file, but it seems that developer is not able to answer any messages I have sent (it it easy, in your email press Reply -button and write to me, at the end press Send -button).

Hi Sebastian, new version 3.2.5.1 choked on Audio Normalization. I have an MKV file and wanted to Boost up the Audio and no conversion on Video. 3.2.5.1 did not work. Rolled back to 3.2.3.8 and worked like a charm. THANKS! :)

I haven't had a problem with the size of h264 files with 3.2.3.8 One thing I have noticed is that if you are using the portable version, I have had to delete the previous settings file to ensure the proper functioning of the program.

I almost feel bad to give Sebastian anything less than 10. But for a program that gets UPDATED So Often and still have bugs, or introduce a new one ... for life of me I cannot figure out How that happens. But then again I am Not a programmer and could even try. 1) In this latest version I tried to convert an AC3 Audio in XviD AVI to MP3 so I can play it on my Netgear stand-alone media player. Well I checked the Converted file with VLC and Audio was way out of Sync with Video. So, I went back to 3.2.0.4 and viola worked perfect. A/V is in Sync. 2) The other problem that I experience with every single version of XMedia is once I take an MP4 or MKV and I normalize the Audio, and Copy Video and I chose the MKV for output container. That MKV file will not Fast Forward, and when I stop it and want to replay it goes back to the Start of the movie ... frustrating as heck. May be Sebastian can fix this. Thanks Sebastian for Your Program! :)

Absolutely love this program but I've found a bug I think if it wasn't already listed. When converting from MKV with FLAC audio file to MP4 with AAC(faac) a second of the audio in the beginning gets lost.

For processing single files, this is a fantastic transcoder. Load your favourite preset, make your tweaks (if any) and you're all set. Love it. HOWEVER, the latest version (3.2.1.2) is troublesome for me as I can no longer scrub in neither forward nor reverse directions on my Panasonic ST50 series TV. I discovered the profile settings were the same between it and my previous installation which was v3.2.0.4. I have since downgraded back to v3.2.0.4 and I'll be sticking with it unless there's a major functionality improvement in future versions. I suspect the issue is with the updated FFMPEG which was used - either bad commands are being issued to FFMPEG or the updated FFMPEG itself is buggy. For me, the major improvement I would like to see is a more powerful batch conversion set up as the current batch processing doesn't allow for manipulating subtitles and video frame rates for all selected video clips. This makes it a painful task if you have 200 clips that you might like to render the subtitles into, especially if there's only one subtitle track for it to work on with each clip. Even if it saved the job queue to an XML which can then be manually edited using Notepad and some Find and Replace trickery would be sufficient. I've asked the author about this so hopefully there will be something in a future release which would be highly beneficial for me - provided that the encoding issue described above is fixed.

I upgraded my old XmediaRecode from version 2.3.1.3 to version 3.2.0.4 and can confirm that Yamaneko in post 23 are correct. The program, which i think is one of the best, does not support DVB subs anymore, so i have gone back to the (very) old version 2.3.1.3 again. I hope that the programdeveloper can fix this problem. I know almost nothing about programming, but i can't stop wondering why upgrades, which gives more possibilities and greater quality, often leads to something not working.

Hello, since XMediaRecode3196 I have a bug still present in 3203 When I chose to change for example Bitrate in MP3 file, If I have more than one element, I have to select for each the Bitrate (same behaviour for others settings). When I select multiple file he forget the settings I put. When I go back to XMediaRecode3194 there is no bug, it remember my selection when I select mutliple files Can you fix it ?

It seems that XMedia Recode do not support correctly DVB-subtitles anymore. Trying to convert Topfield .rec files to MP4 and XMedia Recode not render DVB subtitles at all or it pick up some of text here and there and timing is wrong then. I'm trying to find out when this has happened and I'll test older versions of XMedia Recode.
