With Windows, there are several options for entering accented characters:

• You can enter the characters using ALT codes as described here.
• There is a "Character Map" utility that comes with Windows. It is usually located in the Start menu under Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map.
• There are web pages that assist with entering accented characters (http://spanish.typeit.org/)
• People who frequently enter data in other languages may want to use an alternate keyboard layout (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout)
