Moto G and Moto G Plus announced: bigger and pricier

In an event over in India today, Lenovo revealed the oft-leaked and widely anticipated fourth-generation Moto G, accompanying it with a new Moto G Plus variant. Both new handsets have a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 617 processor with Adreno 405 graphics, and run Android Marshmallow with Moto Display and Moto Actions enhancements. Storage options include 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, while RAM can be specced from 2GB to 4GB. There's a 3,000mAh battery inside each and Lenovo will offer Moto Maker customization options.

The Plus difference between Lenovo's two new smartphones is down to two features: a fingerprint sensor integrated into a new physical home button and a more sophisticated camera. The regular Moto G has a 13-megapixel camera, as it did last year, while the Moto G Plus ups the resolution to 16 megapixels and adds laser focus and phase-detect autofocus. The Moto G will be available in the UK from early June for £169, followed by the G Plus later in the month for £199. That's a fair bit higher than traditional Moto G pricing, but it seems like Lenovo has decided to push its affordable range up both in size and price bracket.
