Now that The Hunger Games series has come to an end, Lionsgate is looking toward its next franchise. For now, the studio wants that franchise to be Power Rangers, and is hoping to make "five, six, or seven" movies based around the rainbow spandex heroes, Deadline reports.
Lionsgate already has one Power Rangers movie in the works, which is set to come out in March 2017. That film, written by Max Landis, will star Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, plus Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G, and Ludi Lin. Two Power Rangers feature films have already been made: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997). But hey, an old, dried up idea has never stopped Hollywood before!
