J.J. Abrams is riding high after the success of 10 Cloverfield Lane, and is getting ready for his next producing gig.TheWrap reports that Selma's David Oyelowo and Concussion's Gugu Mbatha-Raw have been tapped to costar in sci-fi thriller God Particle. Abrams' Bad Robot will produce the film for Paramount, with Nigerian-American director Julius Onah at the helm.

God Particle will reportedly follow a team of American astronauts who've survived the destruction of the planet and must fight to stay alive after encountering another surviving crew. The roles Oyelowo and Mbatha-Raw will play aren't yet known, but by the sound of it, God Particle will fit perfectly into the overall Cloverfield framework.

Making good on J.J. Abrams' commitment to diversity

Bad Robot moving forward on the film with Oyelowo and Mbatha-Raw, two acclaimed actors, as well as a young talent like Onah, also shows Abrams making good on his commitment to creating more opportunities for women and people of color in the industry. In a memo he sent last month, the writer-director said he wanted the people considered for the jobs in the company's films "be at the very least representative of the country we live in." God Particle is currently slated to hit theaters on February 24th, 2017.
