Please note: photography for personal use is welcome, but flash and video cameras may not be used in the museum. Commercial, promotional, and professional photography (including wedding and engagement photos), as well as tripods, lights, and bulky photography equipment, are not allowed in the museum and gardens.

Hours and Admission

Dumbarton Oaks Museum

The museum will be closed to the public from May 23 through late 2016. We regret that we cannot accommodate scheduled tours of the museum and Main House during this period. However, the gardens will be open and both introductory group tours and booked private tours will be offered.

We are excited about the reopening of the museum galleries with state-of-the-art lighting and upgraded exhibits. Please check this space for further announcements closer to that time.

Dumbarton Oaks Gardens

Open from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. during the regular season (March 15 through October 31), except Mondays and, in 2016, the following holidays: Veterans Day (November 11), Thanksgiving Day (November 24), Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

Please note that the gardens may close due to hazardous conditions.

Garden Tickets and Season Passes may be purchased at the Garden Gate.
