Christmas and New Year opening hours
Most of our libraries will be closed from Saturday 24 December 2022 to Monday 2 January 2023, with some libraries closing earlier. A small number of libraries will be open but unstaffed during the Christmas period. Check your library's opening hours for more information.
Staying safe in our reading rooms
Libraries are open to all readers — just come along with your University or Bodleian Reader card. Check library opening hours before you travel, as these may change at short notice.
Wearing a face covering is now a personal choice. Please be respectful to those who choose to continue wearing one. Face masks must still be worn by anyone working on a hospital site and you should follow the latest guidance on the Oxford University Hospitals website if this applies to you.
If you have tested positive for COVID-19, please follow University guidelines regarding self-isolation. If you are self-isolating but need to borrow or return items, you can:
- Nominate someone to collect available books on your behalf by emailing full details to the relevant library
- Ask someone else to return loans on your behalf
Clinically vulnerable readers
Some areas of 2m+ socially distanced seats are available in many reading rooms to support readers who are clinically vulnerable or anxious about social distancing. Readers with a referral from the Disability Advisory Service and the Disability Librarian are able to reserve these socially distanced seats. Other readers may use them on a walk-in/first-come basis. If you would like to be able to reserve these seats, please contact [email protected] in the first instance.
