morning
The guy from fiverr gave me a refund :)

lol
nice

Will try another one, may be will push the budget to 10$ :D

you are looking for just a logo or=?

hello, I finished debugging my windows phone 8.1 app, how do I move it to my phone without publishing in the app store?

Yes a logo for the store
@AdanRamirez Register the phone as a development device. In VS run the app for ARM platform after you connect the phone to PC and unlock the screen.

9:21 AM
yes, I did this, now.. how do I move the application onto my phone so I can run it?
how do I run my app on my phone and not from VS? without posting it in the app store?
I want a private app

The app should be deployed to the phone after you run it from VS. You should find it installed and can open whenever you want.

found it
kk, thanks!

Hi all

hi

Hope you guys have voted already for new moderators - election ending in six hours
Personally i went with Aaron Hall / Samuel Lewis / Neal as my votes (in that order) wonder who are you guys voting for

1:18 PM
i have no idea what are you talking about :S

Surprising that Neal is 98k rep guy trying a 4th time to be a mod and I'm not sure how he didn't make it sooner
umm Annual Moderator Elections?
the post about it has been online for at least a week on stack overflow right panel
though I imagine it can get lost if you're used to ignoring content because of ads

yeah i usually just join the chat rooms... thats about it

normally yea same here but i go on stack overflow because of links posted here

eh even if i wanted to vote i don't know anyone of them

none of us do
you read the answers to their questions and try to judge if he'll make a good mod - a person with great power.. does he sound responsible enough to wield such powah?

1:45 PM
dunnoh
i don't have the will power enough to go through them
and i can't vote anyway :/

:)
why not?

you need to have 150+ rep

oh didn't realise that

2:30 PM
I'm thinking about adding Microsoft Developer Tools feed to our room - what do the Room Owners think? (other guys may share their thoughts too but I'm more interested in room owners because their thoughts heavily influence the decisions)
For example something that you guys may not know: Find All References re-designed for larger searches

I don't think anymore
sorry

you don't think anymore? I'm assuming you mean in general and not specific to this question :)

yep, in general

well you can always attempt to make an exemption of policy ;)
in case you like your Start buttons too much ;)

we should make an array of arrays about what room owners think and then match values based on enum values which would map to another array to yield the USER_NAME in the USER_NAME -> USERNAME_LIST table in SDJOI.h and STDUSERNAME_fdlsksfd.c in the folder /src/fdkf/username/wtf/lolz
making sure everything is a byte

2:42 PM
mm what have you been smoking today? :)

I have to extract infos from C code :(
it's so terrible
but yes, you can add the Microsoft Developer Tools feed

@Maverik That sounds like a good thing to add to the room.
Been wrestling with my PC this morning
Refused to open VS... it would just hang during the opening logo
Now it's doing better after a reboot or two

3:05 PM
I'd say Lynn would agree.. that'd leave julien / johan / reed as the active guys
i'd guess julien will agree as well so I'll add it and if we get an opposition, can remove it later

@Maverik add it, not worse than removing it if it gets spammy

Trying to figure out why a console app blows up, gives no visible exceptions, even when run from the command prompt

It throws an App has stopped working popup and nothing else

should be low volume feed besides in times of new product announcement
VS 2017 news will likely bring some activity which is why I'd like to have it here so we can all see the highlights of whats coming

With the Visual Studio 2017 RC release, we’re continuing to improve the “Open Folder” capabilities for C++ source code. In this release, we’re adding support for building as well as easier configuration for the debugger and the C++ language services. If you are just getting started with “Open Folder” or want to read about these capabilities in more depth, head over to the Open Folder for C++ i

Recap of the Visual C++ Build Tools Last year we introduced the Visual C++ Build Tools to enable a streamlined build-lab experience for getting the required Visual C++ tools without the additional overhead of installing the Visual Studio IDE.  We expanded the options to include tools like ATL and MFC, .NET tools for C++/CLI development, and various Windows SDKs. There was also an MSBuild s

Visual Studio 2017 RC (previously known as Dev “15”) is now available. There is a lot of stuff for C++ to love in this release: Give Visual C++ a Switch to Standard Conformance. Use the opt-in /permissive switch to compile your C++ code in a mode much closer to ISO C++ standards conformance. Watch the video C++ Standards Conformance on Channel 9. We’ve been focusing on the quality of our expr

A little noisy right now, but it should quiet down
By the way, if you ever need to add global exception handling to a console app: stackoverflow.com/a/3133249/177416

feed, like, news posts too the chat room?

they're all like that - when we configure them, it pulls recent items immediately but the feed is generally quiet kind
apparently November 16 was a big day for developer division

sure, sounds cool

a page full of different posts including the post about EFCore 1.1

3:20 PM
I wish there were collapsible parts to the chat room... on the right, we could have the feed below the starred items. We could expand it

we could have it configured so it pops up as an overlay
but then you can't go back and scroll up to find its posts
while I'm not a big fan of feed spams - its good to see so much coming from developer division so rapidly that it results in spam

:)
do you guys have any idea about the cost difference between VS2013 & 2015 ?

nope sorry - we get it from our msdn subscription

Same here
Here's 2013 pricing
And 2015 pricing

thanks

Found out why the console app was blowing up... the sys admin running the app doesn't have privs on the SQL Server db (the app uses Win authentication). So I need to use a service account on the EXE console app to run it nightly
And give that account privs on the db
Is my thinking correct on this?

3:48 PM
should be correct IMO

system admin not having access to sql server - are you sure thats intentional?
could just as easily be a misconfiguration

Maverik, if you only knew the disconnect here b/w the left and right hands
DBAs are separate from SAs and they don't overlap.
Nor do they give access to them easily
