I'm sorry but this is only the case for those of a certain personality, maybe of one who is addicted or depressed. You have no "radical left". You barely even have a left. That's somewhat the problem, since you have no one to oppose the radical views coming from your one-sided government.

Many Americans seem to have been conditioned to believe that anything mentioned that isn't conservative is an extreme measure. The more you embrace and normalize alternative, compassionate politics that counters the trend of hate and intolerance, the better the direction your country will go. This doesn't mean you have to be left wing, but you need those views to be regarded and given the time of day to allow for a more reasonable-minded government.

I agree totally with sad stories. I'd like to add though, if someone shares something embarrassing (or not too emotionally scarring) and you have an analogous story, it might be good to share it back without one-upping. This shows that you can empathise, that these can happen to anyone and that sharing the story is appreciated by reciprocating sensitive information.
