Vimeo on iOS

How do I upload a video with the iOS app?

Tap the upload button in the navigation bar, select a video from your device’s Camera Roll, and tap Upload. That’s it! You can then add a title and description, and tweak your privacy settings, or you can chill and edit those settings later.

How long does it take to upload a video in the iOS app?

There are many variables that can affect the amount of time it takes to upload and convert a video, including your bandwidth, the duration of the video, the visual complexity of the video, and planetary alignment. Connect your device to Wi-Fi get your video online as soon as possible, and our mobile app will take care of the rest! Once your video is uploaded, it’ll take a few moments for us to finish up and prepare your video for online delivery.

How do I share a video from the iOS app?

Sharing is caring. When viewing a feed of videos, tap the ellipsis [icon-image] and tap Share. You can share a link to the video through Facebook, Twitter, email, SMS/messaging, and any other platform you have set up to share on your device.

If you’re watching a video and want to share it, tap the Share icon [icon-image] to bring up that same menu.

How do I download a video for offline playback in the iOS app?

When viewing a feed of videos, tap the ellipsis next to the video you want to download and tap “Make Available Offline.” Your video will begin downloading to your device, and you’ll see a progress bar appear. Once the download has completed, you can find it under the Offline tab of your Playlists.

You can also download a video while in the Player view by tapping the Download icon.

FYI, downloaded videos are only available for playback within the Vimeo app, and cannot be accessed by other apps.

How do I remove a downloaded video in the iOS app from my device?

Sometimes, we all need a little more space. To remove a downloaded video, go to the Offline tab of your Playlists, tap the ellipsis, and then tap “Remove from Offline.” Videos can also be removed while in the Player view by tapping the blue Download icon.

How does my feed work in the iOS app?

Your feed is your personally curated collection of videos based on the people, tags, channels, and categories you follow on Vimeo. Other people’s likes and uploads will show up in your feed; likewise, your likes and public videos will show up in the feed of anyone who follows you. 

Tap “Follow” anywhere you see a person, channel, or category to start getting fresh new videos in your feed!

How do I edit my profile in the iOS app?

From the navigation bar, tap Me [icon-image], and then tap “Edit Profile.” From there, you can edit your picture, name, profile bio, and physical location on planet Earth.

How do I cast a video to my Chromecast from the iOS app?

With your device connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast, start playing a video and tap the Chromecast icon in the lower right-hand corner of the player. In mere moments, your selected video will begin playing on your TV. You can continue browsing Vimeo on your device while your video plays, and control playback on your TV using the Chromecast controls at the bottom of the app.

How do I AirPlay a video to my Apple TV from the iOS app?

With your device connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV, start playing a video and tap the AirPlay icon in the lower right-hand corner of the player. Just like that, your selected video will begin playing on your TV!

To dismiss the mini player, tap the “X” icon in the top left-hand corner. To bring the mini player into fullscreen, simply tap it.
