    Almost 200 years ago, on December 14th, 1819, Alabama officially became the nation’s 22nd state. I enjoyed meeting descendants of the 44 delegates who signed the first constitution today at the unveiling ceremony of the recently restored 1819 constitution!

    Today, we gathered in the Capitol to memorialize the 6 million men, women & children who perished during the Holocaust & to honor the survivors. I’ve proclaimed April 23 - May 5 as Days of Remembrance in Alabama. I appreciate the Holocaust Commission for hosting this ceremony.

    Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is one of Alabama’s most beautiful gems. Today, I enjoyed touring two newly added tracts here which total 470 acres of protected coastal lands. It certainly took a great team to make this possible for future generations to enjoy.
