This is for those that criticize President Trump's proposed tariffs on imported steel. Watch this document thoroughly and pay especially close attention to the part when steel workers marched on Washington DC to ask President Bush to impose tariffs on imported steel in the early 2000's which he did. Unfortunately those tariffs only lasted for less than three years so we didn't get to see if they would have succeeded in the long run. Here we are again this time with our current President set to impose tariffs. I agree with President Trump On this to an extent. I however would ramp up the Tariffs in stages, not all at once. If they are ramped up all at once then other countries will retaliate immediately.

The problem is however he is already giving in by not applying these tariffs to some countries. In my opinion, prices of some things may go up slightly as we are ramping steel production back up but I think things will level out and this will result even more jobs popping up around steel industry towns such as truck driving jobs, railroad jobs and probably more stores and such. Politicians are scaring people saying Trump's idea of tariffs are a bad thing! I think that's nonsense!

The steel industry went downhill because of various factors over the years with the main thing being cheap imports. They say "Change" caused the various manufacturing jobs to leave the country. I say it's time for "Change" that will bring at least some of those job's back!!!

Donald #Trump pushed forward with plans to impose #tariffs on #steel and #aluminium imports on Thursday (Mar 8), arguing the levies were necessary for national security and to stop the 'assault on our country'. Trump campaigned on saving US steel and aluminium jobs, which have been lost to cheap foreign imports. But the tariffs threaten to undermine decades of detente in international trade and have split the #Republicanparty - no congressional members of his own party were present for the White House announcement.

More than 100 Republican House members signed a letter on Wednesday expressing 'deep concern' about the plan. They pressed Trump to change course and 'avoid unintended negative consequences to the #USeconomy and its workers'. They added that 'tariffs are taxes that make US businesses less competitive and US consumers poorer.'

Now that President Trump has signed tarrifs on #steel and #aluminium into law, perhaps the world would be better off considering this as a blessing in disguise.
Certainly the United States will produce healthier economic numbers, continuining the Recovery now growing Prosperity. Similar will happen for Canada and Mexico, now the favoured partners who will be exempt from the tarrifs.
All the other nations impacted could consider growth at home. All that steel and aluminium can be utilised in construction of housing and infrastructure, as well as cars and even aeroplanes. These could be used at home, or exported to the developing countries. The islands and nations recently battered by hurricanes and reduced to matchsticks (say Necker Island or Phillipines) could do with rebuilding, as could war-torn Syria. If there is peace, there will be prosperity. So, all nations of the world, can we help build our poorer neighbours? If the IMF can assist, it would turn this year into one of robust growth. Worldwide. 2018 could turn out a very good year.
