The team
Highrise Digital are a UK based, distributed team led by Mark Wilkinson and Keith Devon.
Keith is the founder of the WordPress London meetup group, and co-founder of codeHarbour - a web meetup in Kent. Keith has been building WordPress sites for over six years, and has worked with agencies and clients of all size.
Keith's focus is on how to leverage the power of WordPress to help businesses meet their goals.
Mark has been developing with WordPress for over 10 years. He has over 10 plugins in the official WordPress plugin repository, including WP Broadbean.
Mark is also very active in the WordPress community and has established himself as a regular speaker at WordCamps and meetups across the UK, including his own meetup - WordPress Cumbria. As a former teacher, Mark is good at explaining how things work!
The process
The complete web development process. We can start at any stage of the process - where we begin is up to you.
Project discovery
Project discovery is the process of finding out the unique needs and goals of the business, and how the new website can help achieve those goals.
Why does the business need a website? Who is the website for? How/where/why do people access the site? These are all questions that should be answered before a website is built.
If you don't already have a detailed project brief, we can help with a one-off 'Road-mapping session'.
Wireframes
In this stage we will use 'wireframes' (lo-fidelity representations of page layout) and 'site maps' to build the structure and basic layout of your website. The focus here is on usability and content.
Visual design
The design stage is used to develop the ‘look and feel’ of the website. Design decisions around typography, colour theory, texture, and imagery are made to deliver a style guide for the website.
If your business already has a strong visual brand then this will be incorporated. If not, we can help you to develop one.
Prototypes
The wireframes and style guide are pulled together and the website starts to come to life.
During this stage the front-end of the website will be developed. You'll be able to view the website in a web browser and see how it reacts to clicks, hovers and different screen sizes.
Back-end development
Once the front-end is built we'll work on integrating the World's favourite content management system (CMS) - WordPress.
You content will be fully accessible to you and your team, meaning no more requests to web developers every time you want to add a new page or article.
