Keep your title under ten words, but be descriptive and strong with your language. Here are some great petition examples - notice the strong call-to-action for each!

Your title should give a brief who, what and why. Example: Demand Sen. Burns Stop Polluting Springfield's Rivers!

3. Whom do you want to petition??

Who can help to make this happen? It could be the President of a country, the legislative body that governs a state or region, or the head of a company. Examples:

Who has the power to make this change? Generally your target will be a legislator, the head of a company, or a local politician.

4. Why should people sign??

To write a powerful and effective petition summary:

Tell people in the first paragraph (2-3 sentences) why they should sign.
Keep your petition short (150-200 words), and include bulleted lists or paragraph breaks to make it easier on the eyes.
Be yourself and explain why you are passionate! Then back up your passion with some well-researched facts.
