1535/ At Paris Ignatius received the Master of Arts degree with the right to be called "Master Ignatius" as he was thenceforth regularly addressed inside and outside the Society.

1800/ At Venice, the election of Pope Pius VII (Cardinal Chiaramonti), a Benedictine, who in 1814 restored the Society throughout the world.
