The New-York Historical Society Education Division provides dynamic programming and curriculum resources about the history of our city, state, and nation for students and teachers in the New York area and beyond.

We believe in the power of authentic historical study to spark curiosity and creativity, to promote cultural understanding, and to strengthen our democracy.

Drawing on world-renowned collections and a staff of passionate professionals, N-YHS Education engages learners of all ages in the study of our collective past to deepen content knowledge, develop 21st century skills, and foster an empowered and engaged citizenry.  

Education programs are made possible through endowments established by the National Endowment for the Humanities, The Hearst Foundations, and The Peter Jay Sharp Foundation. Public funds are provided by the Institute for Museum and Library Services, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

Leadership support for education initiatives is provided by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Additional support provided by the Altman Foundation, the Pinkerton Foundation, The New York Community Trust, the Barker Welfare Foundation, The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the Keith Haring Foundation, The Bay and Paul Foundations, The Max and Victoria Dreyfus Foundation, the Robert and Mercedes Eichholz Foundation, the Alice Lawrence Foundation, the C.
