I recently came across a tool called "Sketch", which is great for designing apps and other responsive layouts, and has great resources as well. For now, it's only available for Mac though. What would be a valid alternative on Windows?

You could try Macaw it's for both windows and Macintosh. It also has a feature to generate mark-up from your designs so you can do responsive design very easily.

I'm not a Sketch user.... but if I was bound to Windows, which I'm not, I'd definitely be looking at Xara, which is Windows-only.

Get answers to practical, detailed questions
Focus on questions about an actual problem you have faced. Include details about what you have tried and exactly what you are trying to do.
Ask about...
- Graphic arts theory and history;
- Layout, printing and typography;
- Color and composition;
- The look & feel aspect of webdesign;
- Illustration and image manipulation.
Not all questions work well in our format. Avoid questions that are primarily opinion-based, or that are likely to generate discussion rather than answers.
Questions that need improvement may be closed until someone fixes them.
Don't ask about...
- Brainstorming or idea gathering;
- Application troubleshooting or technical support;
- Video editing;
- Website architecture and development.
Tags make it easy to find interesting questions
All questions are tagged with their subject areas. Each can have up to 5 tags, since a question might be related to several subjects.

It is discontinued, but there's a stable version (1.6.1) that's fine. It would, in my opinion, be a good alternative for Windows users until the new Adobe Experience Design program comes out. - mrclean208 Jul 8 at 17:27
