Please enable Fusion Tables for Google Apps for Business so it can be seen within the Docs List and used by SMB and large enterprises. The issue has been reported and starred by many. For planning purposes, will it be available by EOQ 2, 2012?
Maybe I'm missing something, but is there really a need for Fusion Tables and Apps Script for this particular example? One could just use the built-in charts in Google Spreadsheets, right?
I recognize that Fusion Tables has other charting options and apps script would give more flexibility in terms of automatically identifying the tossing out bad data, but the particular charts shown in this example just don't scream the need for Fusion Tables in this application.
I agree with Peter. The main advantage of Fusion Tables is geocoding : to display data geographically. The main disadvantage of Fusion Tables (and cloud computing) in general is the lack of trust of SMEs in cloud computing. I proposed SMEs to help displaying their customer's data to allow them improving their mailing campaigns. They are entirely positive on the functionality but are so afraid of putting their data in the cloud. Any suggestion on how to tackle this (rather irrational) argument?
Can you programatically post from another web page on my personal site? I already have a web form to capture the details but want to store the details in Google Fusion tables. Are there any special HTTP headers I should be aware of for the POST to work? Thanks.
@Peter Sitterly and @IctCalimero - Yes, Google Spreadsheets are another option. Fusion Tables strengths are its Merging and Mapping capabilities. The example in this blog post was just a token sample intended to highlight the capabilities of Apps Scripts' ability to sync Form data to Fusion Tables. My hope was to help people think of new and interesting way to get their data into Fusion Tables for visualization purposes.
Great Article! I am trying to use your Crowd Sourcing with Google Forms and Fusion Tables paper to create a google maps application which gathers GPS Data from my users and updates the public Fusion Tables. I basically want to be able to capture a GPS point, an image and some field data. Would Apps Scripts be the way to go? Or am I moving in the wrong direction. I am trying to make the jump from the Flex/ArcServer world so any information will be greatly appreciated.
I just found this article. Looks very useful to me! I will try it on some of my projects as an alternative to using PHP and MySQL as a crowd-sourcing mechanism.

@IctCalimero - What are the SMEs main concerns?

Hi Kathryn,
