We have an active site this was supported on until recently (http://blockbyblock.com/cities). Our KML file (http://blockbyblock.com/includes/bbb-cities.kml) used colors with icons in the past and we have never had an issue until now.

I get several emails from my users of Joomla plugin Google Maps by Reumer that the maps they create in mymaps at maps.google.com does not show in my plugin, because of this bug/limitation that icons with different colors then white will not show with KMLLayer.

A good description is given by Sven in the first post.

I tested with different versions of the google maps javascript api (3.19, 3.20, 3.21 and 3.exp) but it does not make a difference. Also with the different export modes of mymaps (KMZ and (force)KML).

If I change in mymaps to an icon of the list "more icons" or use a custom icon it works normally and shows the icon with the KMLLayer.

I hope this will be solved soon! So we can all use the great mymaps feature to share our maps also in Google Maps javascript API

We just started experiencing this issue recently. We have a live site where our real estate client creates custom maps and then we pull in the info via KML to display on their website. Unfortunately, a few days ago the markers stopped appearing on the map because of the color information. Perhaps this was not officially supported behavior previously, but KmlLayer definitely honored and correctly displayed color marker information and was suddenly changed without warning. PLEASE PLEASE return to old behavior as we now have a broken production site.

We have also experienced this issue. Our map page was developed in 2012 using custom icons and IconStyle with color. Everything worked fine for the past 3 years until recently (I only noticed it today). This is a big headache since our map is a key feature of two sites we host for clients.

My clients site uses a plugin that relies on KML placemarks. This site no longer works and I cannot fix it!

I can't see any progress from September on this bug. Any news?

Please can you let us know the status. In few months the old Google API will no longer be working anymore and we need to export the DATA.

It has been quite a while since the issue was brought up. What are the plans? This needs to be addressed ASAP!!

We are finally noticing some progress on this issue... it appears that the IconStyle information is back, including the color, but the associated icon is ALWAYS white. We're so close here... please take the next step and resolve fully by having the icon URL reflect an icon of the correct color, as was the behavior previously.
