It would be great to be able to disable labels of MAP_TYPE_NORMAL over particular areas with custom tiles that have their own labels, especially when the custom tiles only cover a small area and the rest is just normal google maps.

Ideally, one should to be able to enable/disable groups of labels/symbols on the map. E.g. road labels, public transport symbols, etc. I'm working on a Public Transport app, and my users are constantly confused, if they should touch my markers for stops or the icons that are "baked right into" the map.

Apple Maps has the option to remove default poi off their maps, however on Google Maps for Android this boolean option does not exist, making it veery confusing for Android users to our custom map overlays and markers.

Showing the default points of interest comes into conflict with the particular point of interest I want to highlight to the user. We should be able to opt out from showing them.
