| Issue 2223: | Feature Request: v3 version of GBrowserIsCompatible | |
| 37 people starred this issue and may be notified of changes. | Back to list |
Version 2 of the API offers the function GBrowserIsCompatible which returns true if the API supports the user's browser. This will be a particularly useful feature in V3 of the API for mobile browsers since their support (read: lack of support) of ECMAScript varies more widely than desktop browsers. With this feature, developers could serve a map from the Google Static Maps API to all browsers, then use a dynamic V3 map only on browsers that support it.

This is definitely a must have feature for V3. With so many different browser versions out there we need to know when to redirect users to a non-java version of the google maps page vs. the full featured JavaScript enabled version.
