We definitely want to root for:

  • Michigan State over Michigan

  • NC State over Clemson

  • Mississippi State over LSU

  • East Carolina over UCF

As always, we root against OUsux every week too.

We’re not rooting for Tennessee?

I'm trying to be realistic here.

Not as pithy as the rhyme, but the best little ID reminder I've heard (for eastern U.S. corals) was: if it has a solid black face and also has red or yellow coloring on the body, think coral snake.

Obviously the amelanistic coral fails that (body shape & pattern still easily triggers my hey-thats-a-coral sense), but do you know of any other eastern U.S. species that could fall under that solid black face with red/yellow body markings guideline?

Milk snake are highly variable. Some may have black heads.

The only other similar snakes that I can think of in the eastern US area the scarlet snake and the scarlet kingsnake. The scarlet kingsnake does have some black on the head, moreso than the scarlet snake.

Thank you - I've never come across milk snakes or scarlet kings that didn't have some lighter color around the nostrils at least, but you're right - some do have similar solid black heads.

At least (on a close look) the head shape and scalation of both species is notably different from corals.

This is a completely harmless juvenile common water snake, Nerodia sipedon. Non-venomous fish and frog eater.

2 points · 10 hours ago

Could maybe even be a Prairie king snake.

Definitely not. They don't range there and the saddles are wrong.

100% harmless snake. Now having said that...

It almost certainly has to be a fox snake, Pantherophis vulpinus. Head pattern matches known Iowa specimens.

The only other snake I thought of is Lampropeltis calligaster but most of them don't have that pattern on the head and their saddles are more concave.

2 points · 11 hours ago

I was just about to say that. The bands runing down from the middle of the back rather then on the sides. Would you agree?

I'm not sure what you mean.

Nerodia sipedon is correct. Common water snake. Non-venomous fish and frog eater.

I'd say a Garter, but I don't know what specific type.

Do some research. See what you come up with.

It's 100% a harmless water snake. It's hard to make out patterning to determine exact species, but I'd say I'm 95% sure it's a plain bellied water snake, Nerodia erythrogaster based on the belly. Non-venomous fish and frog eater.

Original Poster1 point · 14 hours ago

Oh ok i guess i missed the patterning on him even in plain daylight. I saw 3 more within 2ft or so in length that day looks like the rain brought them out. The water was like chocolate milk in coloring do you know if the can still see or feel in suck condition?

I honestly don't know! /u/phylogenizer?

No, it's a water snake, Nerodia sp if in the U.S.

Location?

Lowes asks you to register, but it's easy, and afterwards you just need a phone number to get the discount, and you can even get it on online purchases. Saved me like 70 bucks on a dishwasher that they had sold out of in stores.

But it's easier not to do it and just go to Home Depot.

That depends on your local home depot. The official corporate policy is that stores only have to give it to veterans on holidays like veterans day, the rest of the time it's active duty only. Though many stores do give the discount year round. Lowes is year round regardless, and online purchases. I go to both depending on what I'm getting.

I didnt know that! Thanks.

I'll fucking take it. They can have them.

You should ask if it's termination with recoupment or without. That will tell you if you owe the bonus back.

Love these snakes. Lucky to have caught two at my house; one little and one big.

Having a disability does not equal not being able to serve.

I mean it should. Otherwise you’re not really disabled.

That is not how disability in the military works.

I’m fully aware that we’ve turned disability into welfare in the military.

But that’s how it’s intended to work.

You sound so cynical. Must be a joy to be around.

Anyone able to get in on that before the spike? It was $2.60~$3.00 and is now sitting at $11.51.

Even with my screener it doesn't seem I find these stocks until after a big spike.

As someone who used to make ends meet as a restaurant server, kudos to Woods for this high percentage tip.

I never thought I'd go back...until Best Buy sold me on a sweet open box deal.

What should I do about an antivirus? I used Avast on my Mac. Is that a good option for Windows or is something else recommended?

Also, since I haven't owned a PC in probably 10 years, literally any advice or tips/tricks would be cool to know. My biggest concern so far is the trackpad isn't as awesome as the Macbook. Particularly, I can't three finger swipe to the left to go back in the webpage (instead of clicking the back button); and the three finger swipe up to show my apps doesn't work half of the time for w/e reason.

My DS login info is save in LastPass, so yes.

Have you had tickets, charges, or convictions since you ETS'd?

With an RE-3 code you'd need a waiver I believe. (AR 601-210, table 3-1)

What was your narrative reason for separation? I'm dumb.

Edit: for that narrative reason you'd need a DMPM waiver. (AOC Annex A, Table 2)

I don't know the ins and outs (you'd have to get with a recruiter) but it would seem possible but I think you'd have extra steps in the process.

Original Poster1 point · 1 day ago

What is a DMPM waiver? yes I need a waiver I have never had any charges of anything at all.

Department of military personnel management. Just another level for the waiver.

Last time I tried that the bot imploded. I guess it's fixed now?

If you're a top commenter, for the moment, it breaks the bot if you use more than one bot function at a time outside of /r/whatsthissnake or /r/herpetology since the bot is rate limited in places where it's not a mod. It will keep replying to your comment with the first command or species account, infinitely, because it break the bot between the respond and log responses code. Try not to do that until I have a chance to get it fixed. If you accidentally do it, you can edit your comment to remove the multiple things that are invoking it to get it to stop.

You used it in /r/snakes

Oh. I missed the fine print. Jk, thanks.

Cottonmouths are very misunderstood creatures who don't deserve the bad reputation they get. Here is an awesome video I highly suggest you watch it all. It's well worth it.

Haha oops. I never pasted it. BRB.

Plain bellied water snake, Nerodia erythrogaster. Non-venomous fish and frog eater.

Edit: is it alive?

Head shape should not be used to identify snakes. This snake is harmless.

Good ID. Western terrestrial garter snake, known also in this area as a wandering garter snake, Thamnophis elegans. Harmless.

Common garter snakes, Thamnophis sirtalis. Harmless.

How do I exercise these sell options? For background I have shares of HSGX with an average price of $0.65.

I want to ensure I secure a profit by adjusting this sell price as the stock price climbs.

So which option do I use? How far below the current price do I set my sell price?
