I hate when apps claim to use ultrasound. Nope. I can totally hear that.

Most phone speakers top out at 20kHz, and that's within the human hearing range for young people with good high range hearing. It's also usually brutal for those actually able to hear it - imagine a mosquito played at rock concert volume.

Google has this same thing executed much more pleasantly using just normal encoded audio in Google Tone (as a chrome plugin, so desktop only right now). It doesn't require Bluetooth, or ear piercing high pitches, just a cute "beep boop beep" and everyone nearby (with their computer set to 'listen') gets the website you sent out.
