I use /type/YYYY/MM/DD/index/technically-irrelevant-slug for my canonical URLs and I use the same Whistle-based short URLs that @t uses. For me, the "type" is pretty important (and mine actually is a "directory structure" from the ordinal back in that each higher tier is a more broad feed of entries). Like @aaronpk, I also auto-redirect to the canonical URL from the no-slug variant, so it's technically irrelevant as well. -

The Google Material Design Icons are pretty nice. I'm still partial to @FontAwesome, but it looks like it will be a nice alternative for some subset of icons. Get them here ( https://github.com/google/material-design-icons/releases/tag/1.0.0 ) or preview them here ( http://google.github.io/material-design-icons/ ). The Font Awesome icons are available at http://fontawesome.io and are the best free licensed icons I've used. -
