Wonder what on earth they’re worried about?! 🤔 And duh, yes of course Facebook should be broken up.

A small grievance I have with biz news coverage of stories like this is that it spends more time attributing these events to industry trends and demographics—stuff that "regular" folks understand—rather than confronting what our financial system actually does to businesses.

Lots of reading, lots of writing, lots of effort since 4th grade! I can recommend On Writing Well and Elements of Style as some basic introductions.

I seriously had to double check the URL of this to make sure it wasn't a spoof. What a time we're living in. What an utter fucking disgrace.

Study finds 'educational' apps targeted to preschoolers have manipulative advertising such as having the character on screen CRY after showing an in-game offer and having it be declined by the user (a child). Gross!

Airbnb ends their occupation safaris in the West Bank, and NYT ends their ostensibly neutral coverage with “why can’t renting houses in occupied territories just be about bringing people together” 🙄

Tech does not need subsidies. It’s political malpractice to throw billions of dollars after companies to lure them to this state or that city. Imminent opportunity to outlaw this hunger games practice at a federal level.

Papers used the info to advocate their clear point of view or political stance: punishment for Saudi Arabia (ending support for the Yemen War, sanctions, etc). That point of view was entirely justified IMO, but you can easily imagine Trump arguing it "damaged" national security.

A not-so-hypothetical to chew on re WikiLeaks: Many reporters knowingly received a steady stream of info from a foreign intel service (Turkey) last month. Turkey's reason was not justice for a slain journalist (they jail dozens of journalists), but damage to the US-Saudi alliance

The worst chicken pox outbreak in North Carolina in more than 20 years is thanks entirely to a Waldorf school in Asheville with 152 total students--110 of which, according to reporting, have not been vaccinated. As of Friday it reported 36 cases.
