The Java.net and Kenai.com forges will be going dark on April 28, 2017. Project owners can request a copy of project assets and a redirect to a new website by filling out the request form below. Please read the instructions below carefully before making your request. The process is automated and limited to only one request for project assets and/or redirect.
SHOULD YOU REQUEST YOUR PROJECT ASSETS, ORACLE PROVIDES SUCH PROJECT ASSETS “AS-IS” WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN ADDITION, ORACLE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO RELIANCE, COVER, OR LOSS OF ANTICIPATED PROFITS, EVEN IF YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES RELATING IN ANY WAY TO SUCH PROVISION OF PROJECT ASSETS UNDER ANY LEGAL THEORY, WHETHER CONTRACT, TORT, PRODUCT LIABILITY, BREACH OF IMPLIED DUTY, OR OTHERWISE.
Suggested steps if you wish to move your project to a new home
1. If there are any other people named as admins on the project, you must confirm your plans with them. Once a request is made, all admins will be notified that it is in progress. Only one request and one redirect per project can be made.
2. Identify your new project home and confirm your new home page for the redirect to point to.
3. You must notify your users by sending a note to all mailing lists about the pending move and where they can find the project going forward.
4. You must stop all work on the project and notify all users to also stop work.
5. Download your content from your bug tracker if you wish to keep it. JIRA and Bugzilla content will not be in the asset tarball. (Please see instructions below.)
6. If you used WebDAV and the website feature, download your files (instructions to connect to WebDAV are here: https://java.net/projects/help/pages/UploadWebsiteFiles)
7. Make your request.
Once the request is made and verified we will upload a tarball of assets to the download area of your project within five business days. You will have 30 days to download this tarball. At the end of 30 days we will put the redirect in place.
Your tarball will contain:
- a copy of your source and history
- a text copy of your email history
- a text copy of your wiki pages plus images
- a text copy of your message forum content
Your tarball will not contain:
- bug history - please see the instructions below to download your bugs from JIRA or Bugzilla
- a copy of your website, if you used WebDAV
You can find the request form here:

Please note that the old java.net home page redirects to this site now. If you need to log in to Java.net you can do so at https://java.net/people/login.
If you need more information about this process for either Kenai.com or Java.net, please email [email protected]
