First Click: Tesla earnings, Drake reViews, and more in the week ahead
May 2nd, 2016

May the second be with you. Hmm, I guess the ultimate nerd greeting only works on May 4th, aka, Star Wars day, aka, this coming Wednesday.
Wednesday is also the day we’ll hear about Tesla’s first quarter earnings. Although Musk’s little automobile company has blown away all estimates for its upcoming Model 3 with preorders for the $35,000 electric car now approaching half a million, those earnings won’t be recorded until much later (if at all). Instead Tesla is expected to announce a loss amid production and Gigafactory investments. All eyes will be on projections for Q2 vehicle deliveries.
You can also expect a deeper dive this week on the Huawei P9 dual-camera flagship with Leica certification, as well as Drake’s hot selling new album Views.
Kaytranada’s 99.9% lands on Friday. The debut album from the producer and remixer features a dozen guests like Craig David, AlunaGeorge, River Tiber, and Little Dragon. Captain America: Civil War also premieres in the US on Friday, starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson. Then, just as you’re ready to kick off the weekend, Jamieson Cox lets loose his latest installment of This is your next Jam for your listening pleasure.
But all that and plenty more in gadgets, tech culture, science, transportation, and entertainment is yet to come. First let’s get caught up on the weekend that was.
