What is the Ionic Platform?
The Ionic Platform (currently in beta) is a cloud backend service for scaling hybrid mobile apps and web applications. Our platform helps power apps with powerful services like push notifications, user authentication, native builds, live updating, and more.

How are Ionic Framework and Ionic Platform different?
They are two separate things entirely, but they both work well when paired together. Here’s the lowdown:
Ionic Framework is an open source (MIT Licensed) mobile SDK that enables developers to build performant, high-quality mobile apps using familiar web technologies.
The Ionic Platform is a cloud backend platform that helps developers scale their apps with useful tools and services.

When will the alpha services be shut down?
We are deprecating all Ionic alpha services in favor of the new beta platform API, and we will continue to keep the alpha services and APIs up until June 24, 2016. Follow this migration guide to move onto the new beta platform API.

When will you charge for the Platform?
The Ionic Platform will be free while in beta. We will start charging with the production-ready version of Ionic Platform mid-2016. We will have an announcement when that happens.
In the meantime, we want your feedback on pricing! If it doesn't seem like it's going to work with your needs let us know, we are putting this out there to learn how to optimally price the Ionic Platform services.
