Just heard of another middle aged man taking his life. To my men followers and friends. There is no embarrassment or shame in asking for help. Being a man is asking for help. There is nothing manly about suffering in silence. I need your help ending the stigma. People are dying.

I understand why governments devalue education. Almost every western jurisdiction is hyper focused on short term economic growth as their primary goal. Education is nothing by a money pit. The only way they can measure success is by cutting it. Sad but true.

I've been making the conscious change of saying "We missed you yesterday. Is everything okay?" rather than "Where were you yesterday?" when a student comes back from being absent, and I think it makes a difference.

I was recording a screencast to show my colleagues how to use but my microphone was not setup right. I start another recording and a crowd of noisy teachers enter the auditorium. Oops. I'll have to record later.

The point that I make with is that when you flip, the teacher doesn’t *have* to go in a certain order. There could be so many examples to demonstrate a point or concept that we can let the students choose which ones to go to and remove us Ts from the equation!

Two pedagogical approaches at the heart of Critical Pedagogy 1. Start by trusting students 2. Realize "fairness" is not a good excuse for a lack of compassion
