    So I get equally frustrated with ppl who dismiss "bad pkgs" as I do with people who respond to "we should worry about dependency and long term maintenance issues" with, essentially, "you're shaming beginners and gatekeeping". Neither it helpful.

    This is a major problem. Very problematic that many decision makers don’t seem to understand this.

    Struck by the number of times I have heard that a "goal" for data intensive biology is to produce push-button pipelines. In context of data science, implementing models at scale in production comes much later in the data science lifecycle than research.
